M. Avery Designs was created in 1998 by Megan Avery, owner & designer. After realizing that corporate America just wasn't for her, her entrepeneurial spirit took over and this website was created. To this day, all M. Avery Designs items are handmade by Megan and her team of creative ladies in the M. Avery Designs workshop in Hoboken NJ (Just across the Hudson River from New York City). With the help of her talented network of friends and family, Megan learned some basic website design skills and got this site up and running in 2000. To this day, the site is completely designed and maintained by Megan . If you ever see a broken link, please let us know about it.

In 2006, we opened up our storefront in a beautiful spot on the corner of Seventh and Willow in Hoboken. Up until a few years before we moved in, our store was an old time Pharmacy & Apothacary and still has all the gorgeous features from the old store, including beautiful wood work, sliding ladders and glass doors and shelves. You don't see this charm in stores anymore these days. If you are ever in the New York City / New Jersey area, stop by and say hi!

To this day, we teach a weekly Make your Own Handbag Workshop, in addition to a weekly workshop for other accessories we enjoy making. We usually have about 3-4 Private Make Your Own Handbag Workshops each weekend.

Today our bags are sold in a variety of outlets including right here at our online boutique, at our boutique in Hoboken, in various stores across the United States and at street fairs and shopping & handbags parties all over the north east US. Here's how the site works:

To customize your bag - First Check the huge selections of bag styles we are currently making, either from the drop down menu in the top left corner or by hitting the Go Shopping handbag icon just below the drop down menu. Next out the huge selection of fabrics that we are currently carrying & decide which fabric and style you think goes best together. Add pockets, change dimensions, add trim or even change your strap lengths. Go nuts! If you can dream it up, most likely we can make it!

Here at M. Avery Designs, we are all about customization. Wanna add some extra's to your creation? We can do that!! If you have a big, bad, bag idea in your head and wonder if it can be done, send us an email with a full description of the bag and we will get back to you right away about whether we can make it and how much it'll cost you.
